The Elephant Pants | Help Save The Elephants!

Elephants are my FAVOURITE animal out there (with Penguins drawing a close second.) When my boyfriend and I split up years ago, I went to go and stay with my Aunty and Cousin for a change of scenery and a breath of fresh air. My Aunty LOVES elephants and I ended up spending my entire trip reading up about them and listening to her elephant stories, and that's when I first fell in love with elephants.

She told me how elephants are so clever, how they hold funerals for loved ones lost, by travelling miles and miles to gather around a spot where an Elephant companion died at exactly a year to that date. I learned about elephant orphanages that take in baby nellies that have lost parents, and how the workers there have to constantly rotate and swap which elephants they are caring for, to prevent the animals becoming too attached. I watched YouTube videos of those grown up orphan elephants finding other troubled elephant friends and leading them to the orphanage where they know they will be looked after, and travelling back to the orphanage daily to check in on them, and eventually taking them away again when they are well. My favourite thing about elephants? THIS video where an elephant paints a picture better than I ever could. Truly majestic, intelligent, and yet childlike and playful creatures.

So when I learned of The Elephant Pants and their Mission I had to get involved.

By ordering a pair of Elephant Pants or anything from The Elephant Pants website you are automatically donating $1 or $2 from every item they sell to the African Wildlife Foundation. This also supports the Say No Campaign which is a public awareness campaign aimed at stopping the demand for illegal wildlife products, specifically ivory and rhino horn.

To support the cause you can buy trousers, shorts, jewellery, mystery boxes and home goods that are ethically made and donate money to the African Wildlife Foundation. You can even sign up to become an ambassador for the brand, to help promote it to make more sales to raise more money. And just in case you were sceptical about where the proceeds go, here’s a little infographic to clear up any issues.

So here I am in The Elephant Pants that I chose. I went for the classic Black Diamond pair, and Rose has already made me promise that she can steal them off me and wear them in LA (and any time she can get her hands on them!) They are sooooooo comfy! The material is so light and loose, perfect for the current heat wave! I like that you can wear them for a festival-bohemian vibe or glam them up with some jewellery and accessories and sandals. Rose and I are both a huge fan of harem trousers anyway, so for us this was a perfect choice! <3

Let me know in the comments what you think of my look! Always remember that we share this earth with animals and we all deserve to spend our lives happy and in good conditions. There are a lot of problems with inequality in our world, and any opportunity to right these wrongs should be seized with both hands!

    1. Poaching is so disgusting it brings me to tears. But luckily there are a lot of good people in this world who think the same way we do and are trying to use all their power to make a positive difference!

  3. Hi Rosie,
The pants look absolutely gorgeous on you. I also love elephants, they're my favourite animal too so I'm more than willing to support the cause and will be ordering a pair later today! My only question is where you got the shirt you paired it with? I have been looking for a shirt like this for weeks now to pair with my harem trousers, and this looks perfect!!
Love the look, and love you and Rose so much. You guys have helped me to be myself in more ways than you can possibly imagine xx

    1. Hey Lunar! I got the shirt from the basics section in H&M and it literally cost about £2.99 it was sooo cheap! The hat it from a market in London and then I just had bare feet for around the house! I later but on sandals and a kimono to wear this look to the cinema! (But I took my hat off so not to annoy the people sat behind me who couldn't see!) I'm so glad you will support the cause! I will definitely be signing up to become an Ambassador and I'm going to be looking through the jewellery and homeware later!!!! xxxx

  5. Really liked this blog, for a few reasons, the topic, well written and it is really positive with practical solutions. Many blogs and articles focus on the horrific treatment of the elephant and rightly so, but not many take such a positive and upbeat angle and offer solutions which are advantageous to both elephants and the reader. So what I am saying is thank you!

    1. No problem! I'm glad you liked it! Although the cruelty and the facts are shocking, people don't like hearing bad things and just switch off and forget about it. When you talk about things with solutions and in a positive light it gets the message further I believe! What use is it telling people horrible stories with no way for them to help? I love this as well because you give money but you get something beautiful back for it. A great website with a great cause! xx

  7. Rosie, that look would fit in perfectly should u ever go to Africa to visit any of the wildlife sanctuaries. As I lived in Sourh Africa for most of my life, being able to visit various sanctuaries was a privilege and I did get an opportunity, as a birthday gift, to interact with elephants. They are stunning, intelligent and loving souls who are an example of what family stands for.
Thank u for being the caring person u are. I'm gonna get a pair of those pants!

  9. Hi Rosie
This is so great that you are supporting the elephant pants mission. I love that organization. My sister and I have bought some very beautiful jewelry from there. This program is great because we get to donate and buy some really nice things at the same time. I adore you even more now that you are involved in something as good as this. You are the most awesome lole model there is. I really liked how simple yet detailed and on point the post is. Its really unbelievable how humans have been treating these majestic animals so cruelly and selfishly. I really hope that through you many people support this act of kindness.
Ps I love love love the pictures and your sense of style

  10. Sadly poaching has become a sad sad part of our daily reality here is South Africa. We still do everything we can to support the local reserves and in fact just last month we camped in the bush and saw over 200 elephant and 3 Rhino. Was very refreshing not to say beautiful. Nice pics btw.

  12. Last year I did a project on human-elephant conflicts for school. The biggest problem is the elephants are getting their habitat taken away as the population grows, mainly in India and Africa. Taking their habitat eventually causes problems for elephants and people. There's a charity called Space for Giants that's working to save the elephants & their habitat and because of them, the number of elephant deaths has gone down 64%. Here's a link to their website http://spaceforgiants.org you should check them out

  28. Did you notice that they make 'Rosie' ones? https://www.theelephantpants.com/collections/classic-pants/products/rosie

Ughh I hate myself for not seeing this earlier though. :( I tweeted you the other day wondering where your similar black giraffe trousers were from (even though elephants are my favourite animal), realised they were OOS so went all the way into town today to buy something similar. I bought some and was fairly happy when... I get back and see this! Not sure whether to buy more and/or return the ones I got today.

I think we're similar height... 5 ft3. hmm... what size to get?

  29. Hi rosie. There are so gorgeous and look really nice on you. I like elephant as well even though they are enormous, but there're really fun to watch and play with. Here in Malaysia, there is one place name "Grik" where some wild elephant will come out in the middle of the night and there also signboards to warn people who use the road to be careful. Surprisingly, even though they are wild, they never cause any accident or harm even once to the people. It shows that elephant is an intelligent and nice animal. I remember there was a Hindi movie that I used to watch during my childhood entitled, " Haathi Mere Saathi". I'm Malay but I love this movie because it really interesting and the elephants in the movie had put tears on my eyes. You can find about the movie here, "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haathi_Mere_Saathi" and I think you also can watch on youtube but I'm not so sure if it is with subtitle or not...To be honest, I'm not a person who loves to read any blogs but your blog really attracts me. The way you wrote them is really natural and always gives something for readers to learn. You've done a good job. Keep it up. Hope to meet you one day but it quite impossible but there is no wrong to put hope. Right rosie?
