My New York Diary Blog - #DayOne

Today has been one of the busiest days of my entire life I KID YOU NOT. Rose and I set our alarms for 4.30AM GBT Time this morning and sensibly went to bed early - around 9.30pm - the night before. However, excitement, nerves, and the fact that we’d spent the night prior staying up packaging merch till 3.00am had got us out of whack and neither of us could sleep. It felt as though as soon as we fell asleep the alarm went off.

My Step Dad took us to the airport and I was really nervous. I’ve only flown before twice in my life - once when I was 8 years old and I went to Disneyland with the family, and another traumatising time when I was around 17, when my boyfriend took me to Amsterdam to see Aerosmith at a festival and there was a bombing, and we actually had to change flights and arrived ten zillion years late to the concert - but not before we’d called our parents to tell them luckily, we were safe. So I was a bit of a wreck. I also get seriously claustrophobic and I was worried I’d feel very trapped on the plane.

Luckily, Rose was there to steady my nerves and we checked in, dropped off bags and went through security all ok. Then I had the panic of my entire LIFE and Rose found it absolutely hilarious! We’d got through security and had some time to spend in the duty free lounge where you can buy things slightly cheaper. I picked up some perfume to spray on my wrist and accidentally sprayed it onto my boarding pass - right on the barcode they needed to scan! My barcode literally DISSOLVED in front of my eyes under the chemicals and I was stood there like SHIT SHIT ROSE SHIT I WON’T BE ABLE TO BOARD SHIT and Rose was just staring at me shocked mouth open. But we went and talked to someone and they said it was fine and all was well and we just laughed about it!

We boarded the first plane (we had to take two) and although it was a little small, I was fine and actually was really excited. Rose and I took so many photos out of the window of the clouds and the land and the sea. Our first flight was only 45 minutes! It was fun! I ended up drinking a lot of white wine and watching Spiderman 2 - which by the way I was extremely unhappy with the ending!!

\\

When we finally touched down from Amsterdam to JFK I felt really proud of Rose and I for being so calm and navigating ourselves around 3 different airports so calmly and smoothly. We got through security and customs, picked up our bags and got straight into the car that was waiting for us - holding up a sign with our names on, which made us feel SPECIAL.

The car drove us to our gorgeous hotel where we are staying. Rose and I were SO HAPPY when we got in to see our King Sized bed and a bath - when you’ve been on a plane for as long as we have it’s BLISS to see a bed and a bath. Rose and I literally jumped on the bed when we got in. We ordered room service straight away because we were STARVING and had our own table set up with spaghetti and a Bloody Mary each.  The view from our window is breathtaking, especially at night, all lit up. Rose and I filled up on spaghetti then had a hot bath and hopped in to bed, after a quick final email exchange with Macy's to organise extra details of what we are doing tomorrow.

I can’t believe we will finally be able to meet so many American viewers of our videos that we would have NEVER had the chance to meet before. And I still can’t believe I’m in New York. This is only day one and I’m so over the moon. I turned to Rose in bed and said to her, “Can you believe this all started with Curry Farts and Melodrama??”

Hope you liked my first diary entry! I look really tired in all the photos #shattered but hopefully I will look so much more perky tomorrow! Don't forget to leave a comment and let me know if you like my new style of blog! I will be posting my usual #ootd posts for NY too xxxx

  19. Rosie, have a great time here in NYC. It can be kind of a pain in the butt to navigate in, only because it's real easy to get lost when you're not from here. I hope you and Rose get to explore it because it's loads of fun(bars here are crazy as shit, FYI). Try not to do only touristy things, but do some.
